Midterms 2026

The work to win the midterms starts today.
Once voters make their decision on the party they will support, they are less likely to change their mind. The sooner voters see our presence in their districts, the sooner they begin thinking about their vote. Democratic incumbents are campaigning now against the GOP MAGA majority, and they need our help building their operations and getting their message out. In battleground districts currently held by Republicans, we are laying the framework for 2026 with voter outreach work called accountability campaigns. In them, we message against GOP incumbents’ records, like voting to cut Medicaid, and also promote Democrat incumbents’ work to fight for democracy and the welfare of average Americans.

KEY GOALS:

Flipping the House:
A Democratic majority in the House would be the most powerful tool in fighting the atrocities of the Trump Administration. The current small Republican majority and the low approval ratings for the President and his party have created a clear road to winning back control of the House. We need to flip just 3 seats. The House is the #1 2026 priority.

  • Priority 1: Holding 26 “Lean Democrat” and “Toss Up” Democratic seats. Work is ongoing!

  • Priority 2: Flipping vulnerable Republican seats. Work will begin after the 2026 primaries. In California, the primary is in June.

Reducing the GOP Senate Majority: Although the road to Senate control is very challenging with limited opportunities to gain the four seats we need, we could narrow the GOP majority and position ourself to retake control in 2028 when we have more opportunities.

  • The priority is to hold Jon Ossoff’s seat in Georgia.

  • Top pick up opportunities will be in North Caroline and Maine. Work will begin after 2026 spring primaries.

Winning Key State Races: There are multiple high profile governor and state level races where we have opportunities to increase state power. Look for more information in early 2026.
