With one week to go, pick your lane and drive like hell!

We've got a week to make sure that Dems win this election. We're still shooting for a trifecta, or as close to it as we can get. Nothing is assured, and EVERY action can make a difference in the outcome.

IndiMarin is now 10,000 volunteers strong and includes members from all over the US. We have more than doubled our size and reach this year, thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of all of you! But with this increased impact, comes increased responsibility.

Since every hour and every day matters, we want to make sure that we are helping YOU find the MOS EFFECTIVE CHOICE for your circumstances to help Dems win this week. Please review the categories below, then pick your lane, and volunteer to your utmost capability for the next seven days. We CAN win big with our collective foot on the gas for the next week!

Lane 1 - You live in a battleground state or close to a toss-up House district.
Fabulous! Knocking on doors is a hugely impactful use of your time this week. Check this link to find a State Coordinated GOTV campaigns that would welcome your help! Training is provided.

Lane 2 - You are an experienced phonebanker and have been calling with Scale to Win.
Fabulous! We need your experienced efforts! IndiMarin's experienced Phone Team is hosting two phonebank sessions on each of the final five days - Friday through Tuesday. We will be calling for Harris/Walz and a key California House race. We'd love to pack these phonebanks with our experienced volunteers. There will be no training provided in these final GOTV phonebanks so that our mentors will also be free to make calls. All phonebankers must have experience calling for Kamala Harris and/or Rudy Salas. You must also be completely independent with the Scale to Win dialer and Zoom. IndiMarin mentors will be available to answer minor questions.

IndiMarin Postcarding: Closing Thank You!

Hello Writers!

What an extraordinary election this is - and what extraordinary volunteers you all are!  With Election Day now less than two weeks away and many people already voting, our 2024 postcarding program is now closed. We wrote a record 138,5000 voters this year in the most competitive House and Senate races in the country. Your tireless work this year is deeply appreciated by the entire leadership team at IndiMarin and will make a difference when all ballots are finally counted.

As we wait for that day, our efforts here turn to immediate voter conversations - by text, by phone, and at the doors. We will be talking to many of those low frequency voters to whom we have written all year. In fact, the effectiveness of our postcards is amplified when combined with a text, phone call, or door knock - and volunteers are still greatly needed.

It can be frustrating for active volunteers when postcarding ends with many days left, so we encourage you to consider joining our other efforts - links to details can be found on the upper red band of our website here. All training will be provided and we love newbies!  Please note that for phonebanking, you need to attend our phonebanks this upcoming Saturday and/or Tuesday to call over the final weekend. Voting is already underway in many states with many more starting this week. Here is a complete listing of early voting options by state. AND, even if voting hasn't started in your state yet, please read on for a tip for how to get prepared this weekend and be all set to go with your ballot as soon as voting starts in your state!

Sometimes procrastination is an obstacle to early voting since it can feel a bit daunting to decide on complex ballot propositions. We recommend BlueVoterGuide.org to make doing your "homework" easier and quicker.

This Dem-centric website is designed to help progressive Democrats sort through the ballot maze and make decisions in line with their overall values. Just enter your zip code and the Blue Voter Guide will generate a sample ballot for you, with a list of groups that have endorsed each Dem candidate and the various ballot measures. It makes voting early a piece of cake!

This is our last call for 2024 postcarding!  Our GOTV campaigns will continue up to the mailing deadlines as long as online addresses stay available or bins get picked up.  Please note the following information!

• Marin County Packets:  Both bins will be picked up on Friday, October 18th. If you want to postcard using our packets, please make sure you pick them up before the 18th. Packets are for Ohio with a mailing deadline of October 20th.

• Events: Our final in person postcarding events will be on October 15th, 17th, and 22nd.

is a partisan website designed to help progressive Democrats sort through the ballot maze and make decisions in line with their overall values. At this website, you can enter your zip code and it will generate an electronic version of your ballot with a list of which groups support or oppose the various initiatives.

CalMatters.org is non-partisan and also offers guidance on the pros and cons of the various propositions. It features a helpful tool called "Take the Prop Quiz" which walks you through some questions about your general views as they pertain to a particular proposition, and then gives you an assessment of whether your answers align more with a YES or a NO vote.

Spread the word to people you know in battleground states and toss-up districts
Once you've submitted your ballot, you can turn your attention to helping spread the word about the increased impact of early voting. People are already voting in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Montana, Ohio, and Arizona. Early voting starts in Georgia, North Carolina and Nevada over the next week. The time to phonebank is NOW! Please sign up for multiple shifts!

Hello IndiMarin Phonebankers!

On November 5th, voters will determine our future as a nation. But which voters will show up - those who support freedom of speech, reproductive freedom, voting rights, gun safety, and a sane climate policy - or those who would send us careening off course? That answer is up to us.

But it is not enough for each of us to vote. We must get others out to vote! And that means phonebanking. So, with ballots in some key states already on their way to voters, the time is now to take action and sign up NOW to make phone calls with Indivisible Marin.

We’re offering two calling options with NEW GOTV SCRIPTS. First, we’re calling into battleground states for Harris and Walz. These calls will also include outreach for some Senate candidates. In addition, since California is key to taking back the House, we’re calling for Rudy Salas, the Democratic Congressional candidate in CA-22, who is in a very tight race.

Our phonebanks are on Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:30am PT and Tuesdays from 4 to 6pm PT. We hope you’ll attend on a regular basis between now and November 5th! In addition, once trained at one of our phonebanks, you’ll be able to make calls independently on your own schedule as well.

We’ll also host extended get-out-the-vote phonebanks every day from Friday, November 1st, through Tuesday, November 5th. We are determined to keep calling until every single Democratic supporter has mailed in, dropped off, or shown up to cast their ballot, because we know that if we turn out our voters, we’ll win!

The margins in this election are razor thin. If you have any doubt about the impact of phonebanking, consider this cautionary tale: In the 2017 Virginia House of Delegates race, control of the state House came down to one seat in the 94th district. When all the votes were counted in that district, the election was a tie, so officials chose the winner of the 94th by pulling a name out of a bowl. The Republican was declared the winner, and Republicans took control of the state House by just one seat. If one more Democrat had shown up to vote in that race, Democrats would have controlled the House. One more phone call to one more voter would have changed the outcome.

Come phonebank with us through October 29th, and we’ll refresh your skills and support you as you make calls to voters. It’s important to come before November 1st so that you’re trained and can join us in the final five days to get out the vote. IndiMarin Postcarding: Final campaigns and mailing deadline

Ballots drop in CA and most battleground states next week and GOTV work has begun, sharing a strong final message to vote!  Research shows that 2-3 postcards per voter is most effective. These GOTV cards follow up on ones focused on issues and candidates that they received earlier in the year. To order addresses online or packets locally in Marin county, please go to our website at www.indivisiblemarin.org/write. Thanks to all of you for the amazing results we have already achieved with more to come in this final stretch!

We recently began campaigns in Ohio and CA 47 but anticipate that we will move to others before our final deadline of October 20th. Please take that deadline into consideration and make sure that your cards get mailed by then so that they will be received before Election Day.

Looking for some way to help after the 20th? We recognize that it can be frustrating for postcarders during the final weeks of the election when voter outreach is so important and yet have nothing to do. Live conversations with voters during this time are essential in a complete GOTV effort so we highly encourage our postcarders to join our phonebanking team now and be ready for that final weekend push. GOTV phonebanking is FUN!  We primarily chat with Democratic supporters to remind them to vote and answer any questions they have about their ballots. You will have all the resources you need to help them and it is extremely rewarding. We will be working in CA 22 supporting Rudy Salas and in various battleground states supporting VP Harris and our Senate candidates. These calls can make the difference there. You will receive small group training in a very supportive virtual community with others of similar experience. All you need is a computer or laptop, and basic computer skills. In a nauseatingly close election, victory is within OUR margin of effort

Hello wonderful IndiMarin Volunteers!

Could this election be any more nerve-wracking? Defying all reason, Donald J. Trump is still in striking range of becoming our next President. Our narrow majority in the Senate is in danger of flipping to a narrow majority for the GOP. And the House is up for grabs. Polls are conflicting and prone to error. The clock is ticking loudly. Early voting has begun in some states with more states starting very soon. It's enough to keep us all up at night.

Today, Dan Pfeiffer, a former Obama advisor turned Pod Save America co-host and a VERY smart Democratic pundit and strategist sent to his subscribers a message that is 100% on point.

An excerpt from Dan's Substack today (you can subscribe here.)

"4. Within the Margin of Effort

This campaign is a game of inches. There will be no gigantic swing in either direction. Think about it this way: since the campaign kicked off, there have been two lopsided debates, two assassination attempts, multiple indictments, and one of the candidates became a convicted criminal. None of those events moved the polls more than two points. Over time, those two-point changes in the race evaporated and everything reverted to the mean. The most likely scenario is that this race will be even closer than 2020 (one of the closest in history). It’s fashionable in the Trump era to argue hat “nothing matters,” because Trump has persevered despite countless incidents, action/inaction, and gaffes that should have ended his political career. However, that’s the wrong mindset. In a race this close— everything matters. A one-point shift in one state is the difference between victory and defeat. The whole thing could be decided by a few thousand voters. While that’s a nauseating concept, it is also empowering because it means that every little thing we do — every phone call, text, and conversation — can make a huge difference. Ultimately, there is an anti-MAGA majority in this country and in all the battleground states. We just have to persuade them to vote. Perhaps more than any other election in my lifetime, whether or not Kamala Harris is the next President, is in our hands."

So.....To all of you who are already spending volunteer hours and donating to the full extent of our capacity, a huge THANK YOU! To all of you who, on reflection, could free up more time or more money to help Dems win across the board on November 5, NOW IS THE LAST CHANCE TO STEP UP AND AVOID POTENTIAL REGRETS THAT YOU WISH YOU HAD DONE MORE.

New Mid-September GOTV Postcarding Campaigns Available NOW

Wow - you all blew through our first GOTV campaigns! Mid-way though September, we are adding two new races and anticipate more changes ahead as early voting begins. Please note that postcarding will end around October 20th so write those cards now to reach as many voters as we can before election day!

GOTV post carding differs from other campaigns, so please read the following information carefully!  

GOTV scripts will provide election dates and resources plus encourage early voting, which is critical to Democratic Party success up and down the ballot. All campaigns will include a social pressure message proven to be the most effective in getting low-frequency voters to turn in their ballots. These are voters that can make the difference in close elections!

VERY IMPORTANT: Please note that all GOTV cards are not mailed immediately but instead should be held and mailed to arrive near to when ballots are available.  This time period will be in late September to late October. Please note the exact mailing period on each campaign.  It will vary by state.

Current GOTV Campaigns

Ohio Senate - PACKET REQUESTS ONLY: Sherrod Brown's race is one of the most competitive in the country and a "must win" to retain control of the Senate. Mail between September 23rd and October 5th.

Nevada - ONLINE REQUESTS ONLY: The polls are tight in Nevada.  We are writing to Dems to support VP Harris, incumbent Senator Jacky Rosen and congressional candidates.  These cards must be mailed between October 1st and 20th.

CA 22 - ONLINE REQUESTS ONLY: Rudy Salas:  We have been phonebanking all year for Rudy. Phone calls are most effective when paired with a postcard!  Mail these cards between September 23rd and October 20th.

Thank you all for signing up for IndiMarin’s “State of Play” briefing on Monday! We were gratified by the turnout and the numbers of you who committed to take action on the spot! We look forward to working with you to regain our trifecta and usher in a new era of Democratic leadership.

We are dedicated to creating the levels of volunteer turnout needed to set a record voter turnout this year! This meeting highlighted the election landscape at the House, Senate, and Presidential level as well as our postcarding, texting, phonebanking, and canvassing programs - all targeted at the most competitive races in the country.

New GOTV Postcarding Campaigns Available NOW

Hello Writers,

August was yet another record breaking month for IndiMarin as we wrote over 25,000 postcards and are now very close to reaching our goal of 100,000 cards in 2024. Thank you all for all your hard work!  

We are excited to announce that Get Out The Vote campaigns have arrived! The final GOTV months are the busiest and most important time of year to postcard and we thank you all for working with us to get back our trifecta.

GOTV post carding differs from other campaigns so please read the following information carefully!  

Early voting starts in just a few weeks and that means we need to be working on our GOTV postcards now so that every low-frequency voter that received general election cards this year get that important GOTV postcard when ballots become available. This is a huge task but this combination of cards has been shown to be the most effective way to raise voting rates in low-frequency voters.

GOTV scripts will provide election dates and resources plus encourage early voting, which is critical to Democratic Party success up and down the ballot. All campaigns will include a social pressure message proven to be the most effective in getting low-frequency voters to turn in their ballots. These are voters that can make the difference in close elections!

VERY IMPORTANT: Please note that all GOTV cards are not mailed immediately but instead should be held and mailed to arrive near to when ballots are available.  This time period will be in late September to late October. Please note the exact mailing period on each campaign.  It will vary by state.

Postcarding campaigns will turn over quickly as we partner with Activate America to reach this extremely large population of voters in a short period of time. We encourage all writers to check our website and order form regularly for the latest campaigns and continue to write until the final mailing deadline, approximately October 20th.  

Current GOTV Campaigns

Senate - Sherrod Brown: Packet and Online Requests: Mail between September 23rd and October 5th.

CA 13 - Adam Gray: Online requests only - Two postcards per voter are highly effective - we wrote over 25,000 general postcards for Adam earlier this year. Let's follow up on those with a GOTV/early vote reminder!  Mail these cards between September 23rd and October 20th.

Donald Trump might be our next President. DO SOMETHING before it's too late.

Dear IndiMarin Volunteers,

While we advise against an over-fixation on polls which have many inherent flaws, they should not be entirely ignored either. And the new NYT poll released this morning came a bit as a sucker punch. While seeming to defy logic, it cites Trump as still ahead by a hair with likely voters. Other national polls have Harris ahead by a hair. Either way, all agree that the presidency is too close to call, and that Trump has a structural advantage in the Electoral College.

We have two months to turn this ship around. The goal is a clear and unassailable victory for Harris/Walz, and Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. To accomplish these very difficult challenges, we need ALL of you to do AS MUCH AS YOU CAN for the next eight weeks. As Tim Walz says, "We'll sleep when we're dead." After all, this election is the most consequential in not only OUR LIFETIMES but in our NATION'S LIFETIME.


We ask that ALL OF YOU add two key voter outreach activities to your schedule. If you are currently writing postcards, THANK YOU, AND please add these two actions to your list of contributions. Postcarding will end well before election day and it is important to be trained and rolling with a way to contribute right up until the end.

Both of these tactics can we easily done from anywhere at a range of convenient times AND involve INTERACTIVE conversations with voters, which are proven to be the most impactful way to influence low-turnout Democrats and voters still on the fence.

#1 - GET TRAINED BY INDIMARIN TO PHONE VOTERS
Calling voters can be done from ANY LOCATION during WAKING HOURS. It's easy to fit in some calls during any busy day. These interactive calls with voters are "make or break" in convincing disengaged Dems to cast a ballot. We also provide valuable voting information to those who may be confused about where, when or how to vote in their location.

We offer small group training, according to experience level, at ALL OF OUR PHONEBANKS. Our team of experienced mentors are incredibly patient and supportive and can help all newbies get comfortable. Then, once trained, there are many options for calling on your own schedule.

For all of you thinking, "I phonebanked several years ago (or more) and it wasn't for me," please rest assured that the technology of phonebanking has advanced significantly over the last few years. We now use automated dialers which connect us with voters, not voicemail, and the call lists are highly targeted so that you will be speaking to the low turnout Democrats we most need to reach. #2 - BECOME A WALKING, TALKING BILLBOARD FOR DEMS IN YOUR DAILY LIFE
Wear a Dems Make Life Better t-shirt whenever you're out in public from now until election day. This innovative voter outreach tactic pioneered by our sister group turns us all into human advertisements for Dem messaging as we go about our daily lives. Wear it to the grocery store, the dog park, and wherever else you happen to go outside the house. Not only will the messaging on the shirt result in "exposures" ( a marketing term for the number of eyeballs reached) but it also often prompts interpersonal conversations. Again, INTERACTIVE conversations are the best way to sway disengaged Democrats or on-the-fence Independents in the final stretch.

The Dems Make Life Better website provides a range of resources and toolkits to help make conversations prompted by the shirt constructive and comfortable. You can watch this 30 minute zoom meeting for a detailed introduction to this great way to help the cause. OR visit the website, buy a shirt plus any other desired pro-Dem merchandise, and jump right in. Because products are union-made on demand, it will take 2 - 3 weeks to receive your order so ordering ASAP is recommended to maximize the time you have to spread the word in advance of this crucial election.

Everyone - PLEASE consider maximizing your effort over the next two months to help Democrats win a trifecta. Doing so will be a true legacy we can give to our children and grandchildren. Let's not be left with regret, as we were in 2016, that we could have done more to avert a disastrous outcome.

For all of you who have already been volunteering to help Dems win the most important election in our country's history, thank you, thank you, thank you!

IF you have been waiting until fall to get started, TAG, YOU'RE UP! Please review the list of ways to volunteer with IndiMarin below and jump in - consistently and frequently.

With Labor Day weekend at our backs, the intensity of the Get Out the Vote effort is now officially in its final stretch. While technically we have about eight weeks to go, BALLOTS DROP IN SOME KEY STATES later this month!

Per this nerve-wracking new article and companion poll in Politico, "Because of Republicans’ advantage in the Electoral College, a race that Harris leads nationally by between 2 and 4 percentage points, on average, is the equivalent of a knife fight in a phone booth, and it’s set to be decided in a smaller-than-usual number of states. The polls are extraordinarily tight in all of them, and that isn’t expected to change much over the next nine weeks. In modern presidential elections, where the race stands on Labor Day is usually pretty close to where it ends up once the votes are counted.

What will make the difference between a win and a loss for Dems in November in this "knife fight in a phone booth" analogy? Simply put, it's US. Democrats have a nationwide workforce of grassroots volunteers and Republicans do not. But to exploit this significant advantage, we need our workforce to be ON THE JOB, LIKE IT'S A JOB!

Below are many ways to volunteer. All are strategically selected to focus on the key races needed to win a trifecta - the Presidency, House and Senate. Please spend as much time as you can on any combination of these actions between now and 11/5.

Announcing New Postcarding Campaigns

Hello Writers,

The volunteer energy continues to grow and the postcarding world is moving quickly to keep up with it!  Our packet campaign in CA-47 is complete!  As anticipated, we have added an additional campaign - supporting Will Rollins in his fight to flip CA-41!  Will is an amazing candidate and a voice we need in Washington.

CURRENT CAMPAIGNS:  

Ending Soon! House District CA-13 - Available for online requests only - We have a few hundred addresses left for Adam Gray to hit our goal of 25,000 postcards in a district where we lost by just 564 votes in 2022. Let's finish these up!

House District CA-41: Available for packet AND online requests - We are writing to registered Democrats who are 18-45 years old and are infrequent or newly registered voters. We are contrasting MAGA Republican plans as highlighted in the Project 2025 document with Will Rollins dedication to protecting Americans' rights. This is the closest race among the CA House toss ups and our cards can make a big different here.

Senate - Available for online requests only -  We are writing to support Montana incumbent Jon Tester and his work to bring high speed internet to his state through the Infrastructure Act. Montana is the closest of all the battleground Senate races and Democrats must win it to keep control of the Senate.  Tester is asking for out-of-state support to boost his campaign. Volunteers can make a huge impact in this small population state!

The mailing deadline for all campaigns is September 15th.

Postcarding at Ounces Outdoors has CHANGED TO THURSDAYS!

Hello fabulous IndiMarin Postcarders!

Our new additional location for group postcarding - Ounces Outdoors at Northgate Shopping Center in San Rafael - has been a great success!  Given the numbers of postcarders attending (yay!) we have moved our event to Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:30 PM starting this Thursday, 8/15. There will not be a postcarding event on Wednesday, 8/14 as previously planned.

On Wednesdays, the restaurant hosts a popular Trivia Night so it became too crowded. On Thursdays, we will have much more space to spread out!

If you haven’t joined us, before Ounces Outdoors is a local-centric outdoor space with a wonderful staff and owner! It's even dog-friendly. If you are able to join us on any upcoming Thursday, SIGN UP HERE!

Texting voters, a HIGHLY efficient way to help Dems win!

Dear wonderful IndiMarin volunteers,

First of all, a heartfelt thank you for all that you’re doing to protect democracy and help elect Democrats everywhere. With 92 days until Election Day and the wind finally at our backs, we’ve never been more joyously hopeful that we can win this thing!

Perhaps you write postcards, make phone calls, or even knock on doors. We’re reaching out today to open a new possibility to you: texting. No other tool offers such capacity to reach voters. In less than an hour, a single texter can send thousands of messages via their laptop or tablet. These messages are most effective in recruiting volunteers and getting out the vote, and we are in a particularly intense period of volunteer recruitment right now.

We now have a texting program to offer that is professional and well-funded with excellent tools, terrific training and support, clear scripts, and LOTS of texting – 7 days a week, 12 hours a day! Team Gavin Newsom has launched Campaign for Democracy whose mission is to elect Kamala Harris as president and elect down-ballot Dems in all states. Their immediate goal is to reach every Democratic voter in all fifty states to recruit volunteers, and just take a look at results from the month of July:

After August 22nd, we’ll be supporting our candidates online and off, amplifying key Dem messages, and making sure folks have a plan to vote. The texting opportunities before us with this campaign are vast!

$$$$ Needed for Dems to Take Back the House!

Hello wonderful IndiMarin volunteers!

The Harris campaign is setting fundraising records which is fantastic! And the crucial Senate candidates are also benefitting from strong financial support. It's understandable since the presidential and Senate races dominate the news!

But it is CRUCIAL that we direct a generous portion of our electoral donations to flipping the House. With the wind at Democrats backs, we have a real shot at a trifecta in November which will give Kamala the tools she needs to enact her agenda. So let's not neglect the House in our giving plans!

We are often asked by members where money is needed the most and have developed several options for you to contribute to just those people and groups. We do the homework for you!

We have reviewed all the 2nd quarter financial filings from toss up candidates in Senate and California House races. All of Dems' Senate candidates continue with significant financial advantages over their Republican opponents, as do several of our California House candidates. Therefore, we are continuing our support of the three candidates who are behind in fundraising - Adam Gray in CA-13, Rudy Salas in CA-22, and Dave Min in CA-47. If you live outside California, rest assured that these are three races with national significance to winning back the House! Donate to all three candidates with a single click.

Another important way to help Dems take back the House is to donate to the three voter outreach organization which are doing much of the heavy lifting for these three candidates - Activate America for postcarding and phonebanking, the Bay Area Coalition for canvassing, and the California Democratic Party for phonebanking and canvassing. These three organizations are also IndiMarin's key partners for most of our voter outreach programs. Supporting these organizations financially means that more low-turnout registered Democrats will be contacted this year to increase the odds that they will cast a ballot! For those who are new to IndiMarin's Act Blue links for strategic giving, we recommend a single donation now rather than monthly. The election is rapidly approaching and funds are needed for immediate planning and field operations. If you are already contributing monthly, please continue to do so at least for the remainder of the cycle, as campaigns and organizations have accounted for that in their budgets.
